7 Nights / 8 Days · Summer Luxury · June – August
Srinagar · Gulmarg · Pahalgam · Sonamarg · Dal Lake
Seven nights across Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg — Kashmir’s finest summer luxury from start to finish. The journey starts in Srinagar at one of the valley’s landmark properties, moves up to The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa at 8,825 feet in Gulmarg, then settles into two nights at Welcomhotel Pine N Peak by ITC Hotels — the only luxury retreat in Pahalgam. A dedicated Srinagar city afternoon follows before the journey heads northeast to Sonamarg and its glaciers. It ends where Kashmir is most itself: on a private houseboat on Dal Lake. Your private vehicle covers every transfer. Breakfast and dinner come included at each property. The Grand Kashmir is the complete valley, done properly.
Overview
Seven nights. Four destinations. One valley without compromise.
The Grand Kashmir is for those who want Kashmir in full — not the highlights version, not the rushed circuit, but the real thing. Each destination on this journey earns its own overnight stay, its own morning, its own unhurried evening. You wake up in Gulmarg with the Affarwat peaks outside your window. You fall asleep in Pahalgam with the Lidder River audible from your room. You watch the sun rise over Sonamarg’s glaciers before the rest of the valley wakes up. And you end it all on a private houseboat on Dal Lake, the mountains reflected in still water, with nowhere left to be.
This is Kashmir done properly. Private vehicle throughout. Breakfast and dinner at every property. Nothing rushed, nothing compromised, nothing left to chance.

Itinerary
Your private vehicle meets you at Srinagar International Airport and transfers you to your chosen luxury property — the Taj Dal View perched on Kralsangri hill at 1,730 feet with the finest unobstructed view of Dal Lake of any hotel in the valley, The LaLiT Grand Palace spread across 101 heritage acres in a restored royal residence built in 1910 by Maharaja Pratap Singh, or the Radisson Collection Hotel & Spa on the Jhelum riverfront — India's first Radisson Collection property, opened in 2024.
Check in, settle in, and let Srinagar arrive at its own pace. Pour yourself a Kahwa on the balcony. Watch the light change on the mountains as the evening comes in. Tomorrow the journey begins in earnest — tonight belongs entirely to you.

Overnight in Srinagar.
After breakfast your private vehicle heads west toward Gulmarg. The road climbs steadily through the Pir Panjal foothills — apple orchards giving way to chinar groves, chinar groves giving way to pine forest, pine forest giving way to open alpine terrain. Two hours from Srinagar the valley below has disappeared entirely and you are somewhere else.
At 2,650 metres, Gulmarg sits wide and quiet — a meadow ringed by peaks, the air sharp, the sky closer than it should be. Check in to The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa — India's only boutique luxury ski resort at 8,825 feet, spread across seven fir-laden acres with direct views of the Affarwat peaks. The Gondola is a short walk from the front door. Head there while the morning clarity still holds.
Phase 1 climbs to Kongdoori at 3,050 metres. Phase 2 continues to Apharwat Peak at 3,980 metres. From the top the Kashmir Valley spreads below — distant ranges on the horizon, snow clinging to the upper slopes even in July, the silence at that altitude absolute and complete.
Back at meadow level the afternoon opens up. Gulmarg's 8-kilometre alpine plateau fills with wildflowers through June and July — blue iris, yellow buttercups, purple geraniums. Walk as far as the meadow takes you with no particular destination in mind. One night at 8,825 feet. Dinner at The Khyber.
Overnight at The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa, Gulmarg.
After breakfast your private vehicle descends from Gulmarg and heads southeast — a journey of around three and a half hours that crosses the entire floor of the Kashmir Valley before climbing the Lidder Valley into Pahalgam.
The route tells a story of its own. The Pir Panjal foothills drop away behind you as the valley opens into its vast agricultural heartland. At Pampore the saffron fields stretch across the plain — the same fields that produce over 90% of India's saffron crop, quiet and green in summer, extraordinary in late October when the purple crocus blooms. At Awantipora the ruins of a 9th-century Vishnu temple complex stand beside the highway — most drivers pass without stopping; yours will slow down if you want a closer look.
Then the Lidder River appears and the road follows it upstream through pine-forested slopes into Pahalgam at 2,130 metres. The air is cooler here, the pace slower, the landscape entirely different from anything that came before it.
Check in to Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels, Pine N Peak — the only luxury retreat in Pahalgam, perched on the Rajwas Plateau above the Lidder River. Unlike Gulmarg's alpine openness, Pine N Peak sits enclosed by pine and birch forest, the river audible from the grounds, the peaks visible above the treeline. It is a different kind of luxury — quieter, more wooded, more intimate.
The afternoon is for the river. Walk down from the hotel to the Lidder — five minutes on foot — and follow the bank until the sound of the water is the only sound.
Dinner at the property.
Overnight at Welcomhotel Pine N Peak, Pahalgam.
Pahalgam gives its best to those who arrive without a strict agenda. Today has a loose one — two valleys, a river, and as much time as each one earns.
The morning starts early for Betaab Valley, 15 kilometres from Pahalgam. A wide green meadow flanked by snow-dusted peaks, the Lidder River cutting through the middle, wildflowers covering the ground in June and July. The valley is named after the 1983 Bollywood film shot here — a name that does it no justice. Arrive before 9am and it belongs entirely to you.
Please note: Union cabs are mandatory for Betaab Valley, Aru Valley, and Chandanwari from Pahalgam. These are government-regulated local vehicles arranged and paid for on-site — your driver will assist you with bookings.
The afternoon belongs to Aru Valley, 12 kilometres in the opposite direction. The road follows the Aru stream through a succession of small Kashmiri villages — wooden houses, stacked firewood on the verandas, horses grazing in fields with peaks rising steeply on both sides. Get out and walk. The trail along the river goes as far as you want to take it and rewards every extra kilometre with a quieter, more beautiful version of the one before.
Back at Pine N Peak before dark. The Lidder still running outside. Dinner at the property.
Overnight at Welcomhotel Pine N Peak, Pahalgam.
After breakfast your private vehicle returns to Srinagar — around two and a half hours. Check back in to your chosen luxury property for the night.
Srinagar on Day 5 is a different experience from Srinagar on Day 1. You have the valley behind you now — Gulmarg's altitude, Pahalgam's forests, the drive across the valley floor. The city makes more sense when you've seen what surrounds it.
The afternoon starts at the Mughal Gardens. Nishat Bagh — twelve terraces stepping down from the Zabarwan hillside directly toward Dal Lake, the fountains running, the chinar trees in full summer green — is the largest of the three gardens and the most dramatic in its setting. Shalimar Bagh, a short drive along the lakeside road, was built in 1619 by Emperor Jahangir as a private garden for his court. The 400-year-old chinar trees lining its central water channel have witnessed four centuries of Kashmiri history.
The old city rewards what remains of the afternoon. The Jama Masjid, founded in 1402 with 370 deodar wood pillars each carved from a single tree, still draws the faithful the way it always has. The craft lanes nearby — papier-mâché workshops, shawl weavers, walnut wood carvers — are the living continuation of a tradition that predates the Mughals. Stop for Kahwa at a street stall. Buy something that will last.

Overnight in Srinagar.
After breakfast your private vehicle heads northeast on NH1 — the Srinagar-Leh Highway — toward Sonamarg, 80 kilometres from Srinagar at 2,730 metres. The road follows the Sindh River the entire way through Ganderbal, Kangan, and Gund. Two hours from Srinagar the landscape has shifted entirely — the valley's agricultural warmth replaced by something rawer, higher, and more elemental.
Sonamarg means Meadow of Gold — named for the yellow wildflowers that cover the high meadows in summer. At 2,730 metres it sits at the edge of where Kashmir's valley character ends and the high Himalayan terrain begins. This is the gateway to Ladakh, the starting point for serious high-altitude treks, and — for guests on The Grand Kashmir — the most dramatic single day of the journey.
Check in to your Sonamarg property — Four Points by Sheraton or Radisson Sonamarg, depending on availability.
The afternoon is for Thajiwas Glacier — reachable by pony trek from the trailhead near town, with horse-drawn carts sometimes available as an alternative depending on the season. Go before the afternoon cloud builds. The walk through the wildflower meadow to the glacier base is one of the most straightforward and most rewarding short treks in Kashmir.
For those wanting more altitude, Zero Point sits at around 3,500 metres — the highest motorable point accessible from Sonamarg, where snow stays through most of summer. Access requires either a Union cab hired on-site or a special permit arranged for your private driver, both at additional cost. Your driver will advise on current availability on the day.
Sonamarg in the evening is cold and quiet even in July. Dinner at the property.
Overnight at Four Points by Sheraton / Radisson, Sonamarg.
After breakfast your private vehicle returns to Srinagar down the Sindh Valley — two hours back through the terrain that felt so dramatic yesterday, the valley gradually softening around you as you descend.
Check in to your private houseboat on Dal Lake — Sukoon or Mughal Sheraton, arranged to your preference. These are not hotels that happen to float. Sukoon is widely regarded as the finest houseboat on Dal or Nagin Lake — five sumptuous bedrooms, a private sundeck with unobstructed mountain views, a French-trained chef, and two members of staff per room. The Mughal Sheraton brings the heritage of a classic Dal Lake houseboat with the assurance of a name that has looked after guests on this lake for decades.
Take a shikara across the lake in the afternoon. The lotus gardens are in full bloom through summer, the floating vegetable market still trades on the water the way it has for centuries, and the mountains reflect in the lake at certain hours with a clarity that makes the whole scene look like something painted rather than something real.
Seven nights of Kashmir behind you. Dinner on board. The valley quiet outside.
Overnight on Dal Lake, Srinagar.
Breakfast on the deck of your houseboat. Dal Lake in front of you. The Zabarwan mountains behind it. Your private vehicle transfers you to Srinagar International Airport at the appropriate time for your departure.
Kashmir has a way of making people plan their return before they've left. We'll be here when you do.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most Kashmir packages cover three or four destinations with day tours — you drive in, look around, and drive back. The Grand Kashmir gives each destination its own overnight stay, which means you wake up in Gulmarg, wake up in Sonamarg, and wake up in Pahalgam rather than passing through them. That changes the experience completely. You get the early mornings, the quiet evenings, and the version of each place that day visitors simply never see.
Yes. Every luxury journey is conducted in a private vehicle with a dedicated driver, allowing you to explore Kashmir at your own pace. There are no shared transfers or fixed group schedules, giving you complete flexibility throughout your holiday.
Every package we offer can be adjusted — different properties, additional nights, specific experiences added or removed. The Grand Kashmir is a framework, not a fixed itinerary. Tell us what matters most to you and we will build around it.
We work with carefully selected luxury properties including The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa, The LaLiT Grand Palace, Taj Dal View, Radisson Collection, Welcomhotel Pine N Peak, and other premium hotels & heritage houseboats on Dal & Nigeen Lake. Final hotels depend on availability at the time of booking.
No. Airfare is not included unless specifically mentioned. We are happy to assist you with flight recommendations during the booking process.
We believe our beautiful Dal & Nigeen Lakes deserves more than a short Shikara ride. Ending your journey aboard a luxury houseboat allows you to experience the lake at its most peaceful, with quiet mornings, mountain views, and a slower pace before departure.
Yes. Private airport transfers, intercity travel by a dedicated chauffeur-driven vehicle are included as per your itinerary, ensuring a seamless experience from arrival to departure.
For summer, yes. The highlight of Gulmarg in summer is the Gondola to 3,980 metres and the alpine meadow walks — both of which fit comfortably into one full day. Two nights in Gulmarg is more valuable in winter when skiing warrants the extra time. In summer the extra night is better spent in Pahalgam or Sonamarg where the landscapes reward a slower pace.
Certainly. Many guests choose to add extra nights, particularly during summer or winter. We can personalise your itinerary to include longer stays, additional experiences, or other destinations based on your interests.
It depends on what matters most to you. The Vivanta Dal View offers the finest unobstructed lake view of any hotel in the valley — ideal if the Dal Lake panorama is your priority. The LaLiT Grand Palace puts you in a restored royal residence on 101 heritage acres — ideal if heritage and scale appeal. The Radisson Collection on the Jhelum riverfront is the valley's newest landmark luxury property — ideal if contemporary design and facilities are your preference. Tell us what draws you and we will match you to the right one.
For most guests travelling on this itinerary, one night is the right balance. The highlights — Thajiwas Glacier by pony trek, Zero Point, and the Sindh Valley drive — fit comfortably into one day. Sonamarg is a landscape destination rather than a cultural one, and two nights can feel slow for guests who are not trekking. One night means you wake up there, experience the glacier at dawn before the crowds arrive, and carry that morning with you for the rest of the journey.
